Zodwa Khoza Foundation Entrepreneurial and Sports Development Centre
We have partnered with the City of Joburg who have provided us with land to construct the entrepreneurial and sports development centre in Diepkloof, Soweto. Our funding is provided by the Employment Creation Fund administered by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The centre will provide the Diepkloof community with an array of empowerment opportunities through skills and sports development.
Zodwa Khoza Day Hospital
Also in the pipelines, is the development of a day hospital for the community of Diepkloof and surrounding areas. The day hospital will service referrals from surrounding practices, clinics and the community at large. This is in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2015 – 2030 ‘to ensure health lives and promote wellbeing for all, at all ages’ (una-gp.org:2018).
Outreach Programs
Giving back to the Diepkloof community is deeply rooted in the foundation’s beliefs, which is why we host a couple of different outreach programs annually. The Zodwa Khoza Foundation founder annually hosts her birthday celebration with local elders from Diepkloof and Orlando, where we have a braai day, cake and hand out gifts to attendees.
The Foundation also sponsors about 25 young students currently studying at the Maharishi Institution in Johannesburg CBD. The Foundation has also taken upon itself the task of giving different families food parcels and blankets at Christmas every year.
Beneficiaries
Over and above the existing programs, events and outreach programs we have, the ZKF has a list of beneficiaries that we serve.
Among these are the following:
Kasi Gains Primary Youth Cooperative
The Kasi Gains Primary Youth Co-Op is a collaboration of young individuals with an array of skills that they use to works towards fighting the problem of youth unemployment in South Africa. As the founders of the annual Kasi Gains Social Festival, they seek to share with other young people how they can use their skills to work towards ending the problem of youth unemployment.
Maharishi Institute (MI)
The Zodwa Khoza Foundation is currently sponsoring over 20 students furthering their studies in business studies through the Maharishi Institute, which is a conscious-based tertiary institute based in central Johannesburg.
Raising Giants Organisation (RGO)
The RGO is an organisation that is in many ways aligned with the ZKF. The RGO believes in investing in the youth, more especially from disadvantaged backgrounds, to assist them in making a better future for themselves against all the odds. Through a longstanding partnership, the RGO and ZKF have managed to put students through school and introduce them to opportunities which continuously opens doors for them.
