At the Zodwa Khoza Foundation, our initiatives are structured around six core pillars, each designed to address the unique challenges faced by our community.
These pillars-Education, Skills & Entrepreneurship Development, Food Security & Agricultural Development, Youth & Women Empowerment, Sports Development, and Health-are the foundation of our mission to uplift and empower marginalized youth and women.
Through targeted programs and comprehensive support, we aim to foster a sustainable and thriving environment where individuals can achieve their full potential and contribute positively to society.
Education
In South Africa, educational challenges persist, with many young people lacking access to quality education, particularly in underserved communities.
Globally, the importance of STEM education is increasingly recognised as essential for future job markets. Our objective is to educate, inform, and equip youth, women, and the most vulnerable in our society to create sustainable means of income. The foundation also sponsors young students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are currently studying at the Maharishi Institute.
The Zodwa Khoza Foundation offers students Maths, Science, and English Literacy lessons on Saturdays.
Skills & Entrepreneurship
Unemployment and underemployment are significant issues in South Africa, exacerbated by a lack of entrepreneurial skills among youth.
Globally, entrepreneurship is a key driver of economic growth and innovation. To address this, we provide an environment for local upcoming and established entrepreneurs to upskill existing trades and develop new ones. This empowers them to build sustainable businesses and contribute to local economies.
We invite experts from various industries to educate young entrepreneurs on how to build sustainable
businesses.
Food Security
Food insecurity is a critical issue in South Africa, with over 20 million people lacking access to sufficient healthy food. This problem is mirrored globally, with food systems needing urgent reform to ensure sustainability. The Zodwa Khoza Foundation believes it is our duty to play our part and find ways to address food insecurity. We have implemented a multi-faceted approach, focusing on:
• Inspiring Healthy Choices
• Grow to Eat
• Grow to Sell
• Direct from Farm to Fork
• A Taste of Africa
We teach the community about the importance of growing their own food by starting veggie gardens at their homes.
Youth & Women Empowerment
Gender inequality and youth unemployment are pervasive issues in South Africa and worldwide. Empowering these groups is essential for achieving sustainable development.
Our mission is to educate, inform, and equip youth, women, and the most vulnerable in our society to create sustainable means of income. Through events and programs like the Kasi Gains Youth Festival and The Mothers Circle, we encourage women and youth to learn and participate in the upliftment and empowerment of others.
This platform is used to give a voice to all women who want to participate in the upliftment and empowerment of others.
Sports Development
Sports can be a powerful tool for social cohesion and youth development, helping to foster teamwork, discipline, and physical health.
In South Africa, sports are a vital part of community life, providing a positive outlet for young people. We aim to encourage social cohesion and youth development through sport. We also host soccer and netball tournaments to showcase young talent and provide entertainment for locals. We provide sports development facilities like soccer, tennis, netball, and basketball.
Health
Access to healthcare is a fundamental challenge in many South African communities, impacting overall well-being and quality of life.
The Zodwa Khoza Day Hospital aims to address these healthcare needs, offering vital medical services to the Diepkloof community and beyond. By improving access to healthcare, we strive to enhance the overall health and well-being of our community members.
The Zodwa Khoza Day Hospital is a development initiative to provide a day hospital for the community of Diepkloof and surrounding areas.
